Open with their req, not your pitch.

Hiring signals are public, and they’re buying signals. SimpleSend reads a company’s open roles, funding and growth, then drafts outreach built on what they’re actually trying to fill — instead of another note about how you place great people.

The VP Engineering search, and the three under it

Marisol, the VP Engineering req has been live since June, and three senior backend roles went up underneath it last month. Filling the leader and the team at once is the version of this that usually stalls.

We work those two in sequence for exactly that reason. Worth a short call on how the sequencing normally goes?

LinkedIn RecruiterSales NavigatorBullhornLoxoAshbyGreenhouseHubSpotCSV

To be exact: HubSpot is the one direct integration. There is no Bullhorn, Loxo, Ashby or Greenhouse connector, and nothing is scraped from any of them. You export a list from wherever it lives, SimpleSend does the research and the drafting, and the finished columns go back into whichever sender you use.

01The situation

Good outreach takes research. Research takes the day.

01Problem

Business development is what gets dropped

Placements are urgent and billable. BD is neither — until the desk goes quiet, and by then you’re starting from cold.

02Problem

Every recruiter opens the same way

“We specialize in placing senior engineers” is true of everyone emailing that inbox this week. Nothing in it says you looked at the company first.

03Problem

The signals are public, and reading them takes all day

Careers pages, funding news, headcount changes — it’s all there in the open. Checking it properly across two hundred companies is a week you don’t have.

02The work itself

Same email. Ten fewer steps.

Researching by hand
  1. 01Pull the target list
  2. 02Open the careers page
  3. 03Count the open roles
  4. 04Work out how long they’ve been live
  5. 05Check the last funding round
  6. 06Look up who runs the function
  7. 07Paste it into a chat window
  8. 08Write a prompt

With SimpleSend
  1. 01Upload the accounts
  2. 02Write the brief once
  3. 03Approve one sample
  4. 04Export the CSV

The goal isn’t to automate the relationship. It’s to remove the repetitive work that happens before the conversation starts.

01Step

Bring the company list

Target accounts as a CSV. You supply the company and a contact; the research fills in what’s happening there.

Checked before you pay

02Step

Tell it what to look for

Your research targets: roles open in your specialisms, how long they’ve been live, funding, headcount growth — and how to play each one. A req open a quarter reads very differently from a fresh one.

Saved and reusable

03Step

Approve one sample

One real company researched and the full sequence drafted. Nothing else runs until you’ve read it.

Read one, then ship all

04Step

Export into your sender

Stable column headers map into Smartlead, Instantly, HubSpot or a Gmail mail-merge. SimpleSend never sends, so your domain reputation stays yours.

Filling the leader and the team at the same time is the version of this that usually stalls — candidates for the ICs want to know who they’d report to, and the VP wants a say in who they inherit.

The second email doesn’t claim to be better at recruiting. It just proves someone read the careers page before writing — which is more than the other eleven in that inbox did.

05What to look for

You decide what it looks for and how to play it.

There’s no fixed list of signals to pick from. A campaign brief holds your own research targets — what to look for, and the branch to take when it turns up. These are the ones recruiting firms tend to start with.

If a senior req has been live 60+ days → open on the search, not on the firm

VP Engineering live since June, three ICs added underneath

Why it matters

A senior req open for a quarter is costing them every week it stays open, and the roles stacking underneath it say the plan didn’t pause. Both facts are on their own careers page, and neither is something a competing firm’s template will mention.

Recommended message

Open on the sequencing problem — leader and team at once — rather than on placement volume or your track record.

06What people use it for

Four jobs it does on a normal week.

01Use case

Work the companies already hiring

A req open for a quarter is a company paying for it every week. That’s the whole pitch, and they published it themselves.

02Use case

Open on the search, not the firm

Reference the actual role, how long it’s been live, and what’s stacking underneath it. It’s a different email from the one everyone else is sending that morning.

03Use case

Keep BD running while you’re placing

An hour of setup produces a batch of outreach. Business development stops being the thing that only happens when the desk goes quiet.

04Use case

Candidate outreach, same engine

The same research and drafting works for candidates — a note referencing their actual work rather than a template InMail. This page leads with client development because that’s where the research does the most, but nothing stops you pointing it the other way.

07Where it sits

It doesn’t replace your stack. It sits in the middle of it.

Sending happens in

SimpleSend replaces neither end, and it doesn’t touch your ATS. It’s the research and drafting layer in the middle.

08The maths

One placement covers this for several years.

Billing is per email researched and drafted, with no seat fee — so a two-desk firm and a twenty-desk firm each pay for what they actually run.

Starter is $50/mo for roughly 440–620 researched emails. Set against a single placement fee, the software is a rounding error. The trial is 14 days and takes no card.

Where most people start

Most recruiting firms run business development on Starter and step up to Pro when more than one desk is prospecting.

09Questions

The fine print, in large type.

  • No. There’s no Bullhorn, Loxo, Ashby or Greenhouse integration, and nothing is scraped from any ATS. You export a list from wherever it lives and SimpleSend hands back CSV columns. HubSpot is the one direct integration.

  • Both work. The page leads with clients because that’s where the research earns the most — hiring activity is public, and it’s a buying signal. The same engine drafts candidate outreach from the same kind of research.

  • Public sources: careers pages, job boards, newsrooms and public LinkedIn posts. You choose what it looks for. Anything it can’t verify against something it found doesn’t make it into a draft.

  • No. SimpleSend never sends. It researches and drafts; you export a CSV and send from whatever you already use — Smartlead, Instantly, Apollo, HubSpot, GoHighLevel or a Gmail mail-merge. Deliverability and domain reputation stay entirely in your hands.

  • Paste one to three of your real past emails into the brief and drafts mirror that cadence, openers and sign-offs. A deterministic linter then strips the usual tells — em-dash pileups, “I hope this email finds you well,” leftover template tokens, length violations — before you ever see a draft. You still read and edit every one.

  • A fact-check pass rejects any claim that doesn’t trace back to a research finding, so nothing invented ships. If that strips the opener, a re-anchor pass writes an honest one from the findings that did land. Contacts that can’t be drafted honestly are skipped, and the batch report says why.
